Martin Smith
Around 21H00 they left the restaurant and headed toward 'Kelly's Bar'; about a 50 metre distance from the restaurant, following the path, as it is very short. The walk took him a few minutes. In 'Kelly's Bar' they consumed some drinks. They left that establishment around 21H55
Peter Daniel Smith
Around 21H00 they left the restaurant and went to Kelly's Bar, about one minute away on foot. In Kelly's Bar … they had a few drinks, having left from there around 21H50/22H00.

Initially says 2220 - 2230
First statement taken on 6/5/2007
At that time, at about 22.20 - 22.30 he noticed that there was only one person sitting at the group's table, the oldest of them and he asked her jokingly whether they had left her alone.
The person in question said that the others had gone to the apartment to look for a girl who had disappeared. Seconds later Madeleine's father appeared, greatly agitated, looking for his daughter everywhere, obviously and immediately heading towards the pool and surrounding areas.
Shortly afterwards Luz Ocean Club was in a state of absolute commotion. Everyone was trying to help in the search for Madeleine which was multiplied in numerous search actions over a large perimeter. The witness immediately perceived the seriousness of the situation. Madeleine's mother was shouting desperately for her daughter. The witness told another chef at the Millenium restaurant so that he would also help in the searches.
He was part of a team together with one of the other MW employees, Leanne, of English nationality, with whom he searched for the girl until 05.00. He remembers that during the early morning hours there were about 50 - 60 people searching who covered all the access routes to the club, the village of Luz, beach, amongst others. The search was fruitless. Madeleine was not and still has not been found.
ROGATORY. 23 APRIL 2008
https://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/JERONIMO-SALCEDAS.htm
I believe that this was between 21H30 and 22H00 but do not remember with certainty.
I went to find Ze and Ricardo to give them the news and to get their help in searching for the missing girl. I saw the head of the Milenium Restaurant in the Tapas and asked him to telephone the restaurant.
I ran out of the Tapas and noticed that some of the childcare works of the Mark Warner had begun to arrive. At the point I left the Tapas I heard a scream from a woman I did not know. I do not know who screamed, but I had never heard a similar cry. I cannot even describe it but thought it had come from the child's mother. I went to the reception with one of the child care workers whose name I do not remember. One of the employees looked to be organizing the searches and told us the name of the child. We were sent to the beach zone and looked in all the alleys and called out the name of the child but did not find her. Later, we returned to the Tapas where we found John, the Manager of Mark Warner. There were many people now, perhaps 40 including the Mark Warner personnel. We were divided into groups and Ewan and Rob (both employed by Mark Warner), my cousin, Miguel, and I went in a Mark Warner vehicle to search a beach zone which included a construction site. Again, we did not see any signs of the child and after a telephone we returned to the Tapas.
At this point more people were at the location, including residents of Praia da Luz. A man named Matt who owned a club in the locale, seemed to now be the operational front. A big part of our group was sent to the beach; we formed a sort of human extension cord in our searches. We finally returned to the Tapas around 04H00. We were sent home at the time.

When asked, he says that on 3rd May he only remembers that one guest from the table left for about 10 minutes, given that when he was about to serve the respective plate he was told to hold the food back for a few minutes, and that it was about 15 minutes before the guest returned, at about 21.45.

That he became aware of the situation that occurred at the OC with respect to the disappearance of a child when he arrived at the Tapas around 22H00/22H30. He was immediately informed at arriving by work colleagues.
That after finding out what happened he immediately proceeded to join some searches next to the pool and the apartment zone around the resort. He stayed in the OC until around 01H30 when he left with his girlfriend.

APPENDIX 1
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100022579563909
Peter Mac j don't expect anyone to take a theory seriously as it's just an opinion with no provable evidence to sustain it. Bernts is the same. Whether you believe that or not is up to you. And with all respect don't speak to me in a condescending and disrespectful manner. What can be proven is that there is no way the witness saw what she reputedly saw in the time frame given. Paul has shown it and I have shown it, so yes the black bag routine is nonsense or at least the corroborating witness is and the claims they make are.
Regards Smith, if as you claim they arrived later eg 10.30 as you stated due to various reasons you give, then what did they see? Another person??? You think the town would have been in disarray and they would have realised that a child was missing by that time? You know as well as I do they left that bar at the time stated and arrived at the area approx 10pm the problem you have is that does not fit into Bernie Bullshitters claims, so you have created anything to detract from the Smiths sightings. It's a peculiarity that neither Bernt or yourself has not attempted to answer the various holes in Bernts theory, so that begs a question who is exposing themselves? I posted openly my opinion on your smith fallacy and on Bernts black bag, and Paul has done the same, you want to use the forum of Paul's page to make a point though rather than providing the cork to plug the massive holes. Says it all!! And by the way FACTS you have none, if you did you would not have lied in your letter to OG. You maybe should heed your own advice "It is all a load of *********. intended to divert from the main thrust of the research and to take people up blind alleys". Sounds awfully like what you and your accomplice are doing.
Peter Mac Already read this and scrutinised its contents, does little more than use words and selective context to create a scenario. A 'few' drinks? no particular urgency? Time delaying essentially? Sorry don't buy any of it,
Peter Mac Once again I will explain it, as it appears you fail to understand words that don't conform with your theory. "Interesting how SmithGerryMan acolytes accuse me of denying they saw anyone, in an effort of discredit my attempt at analysis.
For the record – AGAIN – as I have laid out in the two chapters on the subject, Nos. 63 and 63A, the issue is the TIME of the sighting, which on the available evidence can be no earlier than 10.30"
"accuse me of denying they saw anyone"
"They saw a man carrying a child. Neither they nor anyone else had any idea that sometime in the next two hours a girl was about to be reported missing / abducted
They had no reason to notice anything. No reason to be Struck by anything
They had no reason to pay any attention to someone else’s private business AT ALL”
So who/what did they see then Peter? Bearing in mind the alarm is raised, its 10.30 according to you, and you fail to understand that a full scale search is now in flight. The alarm was raised 30 mins prior and you are telling us that the Smith's saw someone carrying a child, but NEVER saw anyone out searching for a missing child, and they NEVER bumped into anyone searching for a missing child? Or spoke to anyone searching for a missing child? Oblivious to the mayhem that was taking place in and around the OC. AH but wait how do you analyse the FACT that they stayed in the Estrela da Luz complex, next to a school, which was across the road from the OC, and a place people would likely look for a missing child?
Your steadfast pig headedness is stopping you from looking at this from all angles. You are..
a] Believing that the alarm was raised at 10pm
b] Stating because of [a] Gerry could not have been seen carrying a child
c] Failed to consider the individual walking about with child was ROB. His daughter was reputedly unwell and not sleeping, what is the first thing most parents attempt to put a child to sleep? Fresh air, or motion of a car. Was ROB out walking attempting to get his child back to sleep?
d] You are taking the timeline given as being FACTUAL. It’s not, it’s open to interpretation, and in fact is filled with outright lies. FACT because the lies can be proven to be that.
I never said you stated they never saw anyone, they have seen someone Peter, 3 people, including a kid, don't make shit up, and 2 adults don't place a kid into the mire without thinking over the repercussions and aftermath. They also don't place themselves into the middle of a shitstorm without thinking over what they are getting into.
"in an effort of discredit my attempt at analysis"
What analysis Peter? You looked at statements picked out phrases and words, and then manipulated them to display a totally different version of events, that fitted Bernt's theory.
Analysing your intro in the letter to OG, you lied Peter about the witness seeing Gerry leaving the apartment, and then walking in the direction of the cemetery. If you can lie about these TWO matters, then I am afraid it casts a large shadow over the rest of what you are writing or analysing as you claim.
"it has been discovered that a witness saw Dr Gerry McCann emerge from the front door of apartment 5A carrying a heavy object about the size and weight of a small child, in a black bin liner around 0200 Thursday 3/5/7 and head off in the direction of the graveyard. ""
THREE LIES in the confines of this paragraph Peter, THREE!! that is astounding for an ex copper.
"the issue is the TIME of the sighting, which on the available evidence can be no earlier than 10.30"
No Peter the issue is not the time of the sighting, the issue is your belief in Bernt Stellander. It is feasible that the Smiths left the bar at the time stated and walked up to the area and saw someone carrying a child at 10pm approx. It is NOT feasible IF taking the timeline as gospel truth, that it was Gerry they saw, however at this point why would any individual walking in that area at that time, not have come forward to exclude themselves from the process? A] it was Gerry b] it was someone connected to Gerry? c] does not want a shadow cast over themselves maybe?
c] Is the least likely, when a child's safety is at stake then logic and ethics take over. So either it was Gerry or an individual linked to Gerry.
What available evidence are we discussing here Peter? A few extra drinks? no particular urgency? Time delays? Herding? Time to order drinks? "negotiate space at the Bar. The process of attracting the attention of a waiter, taking orders from a mixed group of that size takes a finite time, and the preparation and delivery to the table or bar top of a diverse order an even longer one" [WAFFLE, AND ABSOLUTE BOLLOCKS]
"And this process is repeated at least one more time. The order may or probably will be different."
NEVER HAPPENED AND IS MORE ADDED ON WAFFLE WHICH OFFERS NOTHING OF CONSEQUENCE or of FACTUAL EVIDENCE
WHAT EVIDENCE makes it no earlier than 10.30 ???? https://fhipdl.blogspot.com/2024/12/introducing-m-s.html
I suggest you TRY actually READING this and understand it, before attempting to label people as acolytes or implying them to be clueless, stupid, or in denial because they will not accept your feeble attempts to label Smithman as irrelevant.
"Now they go to Kelly’s and order the SAME Drinks. 4 glasses of wine, and 5 fizzy drinks for the children."
Says who??? Seriously Peter, one of the woman was unwell, and one of them was flying in the morning. They used Sprite in the restaurant to water down their wine, so what does that tell you? You are an ex copper FFS, it tells me they were not wanting to drink a large amount.
"I emphasise that I don’t KNOW. I am putting it forward as a reasonable suggestion"
You are right you DON'T know. I am putting forward it as a reasonable suggestion that they DID NOT drink a lot more in the bar and left at the time stated because of flights in the morning. SO why is that so difficult for you to understand? It's called a counter theory eg it contradicts what you are saying, and allows people to make up their own minds of what they believe was the eventuality.
"[But as another critic has observed, it might also be that after the first couple of rounds, the waiter started to ‘tot it all up’, and presented the final bill of €16.50 as they left. At 2253. Seven minutes to eleven.]
Clutching at straws at best. Are you sure you were a copper and actually conducted investigations? Or were you a desk jockey? I know your Superintendent position was a temporary one, and that you were likely given it, to see out your retirement period, and they need a cover for illness, secondment retiral etc.
I will write a blogpost on the rest, save the length of reply here.
Here's a thought heed your own advice - "Some people may find this Chapter intellectually challenging, distressing, or “triggering”. If you are prone to feelings of this sort, please DO NOT READ IT. You are of course free to criticise and deny its content without reading or understanding it, in accordance with modern Social Media norms."
Feel free to take that advice on board when you READ the blog post, don't skim read Peter, read it, and take in what it states, THEN when you have a lucid rebuttal, come back and we can discuss. Until then I am not entertaining any further replies to your petty minded whining and complaining, or "Your choice" replies.

APPENDIX. 2.2
The Tapas group all say Kate left the table at 10pm to do her check. She had to walk to the apartment where she says she found Madeleine missing. She did a search of the apartment before returning to the Tapas Bar to raise the alarm, so we can conclude that, according to the parents and their friends, the alarm was raised a few minutes after 10pm. Although not all of them had their watches on, according to Clarence Mitchell, not one of them puts Kate returning before 10pm, so why should several independent witnesses place the time when the alarm was raised as being before 10pm?
Helder Luis was the Receptionist on duty on the evening of the 3rd May. In his statement to the police he says that he was told that a child had disappeared at around 9.30pm.
Stephen Carpenter, in his statement to Leicestershire Police says he and his wife left the Tapas Bar around 9.15pm. The Tapas group were at their table, though he could not recall if anyone was missing from the group. On their way back to their apartment, his wife heard someone calling "Madeleine Madeleine", but thought nothing of it until the following morning, when they hear that Madeleine had disappeared.
Chef Arlindo Peleja was on duty in the kitchen on the evening of the 3rd May. He states that around 21.20hrs he heard a "clamour" and was told that a child had disappeared.
Barman Jeronimo Rodrigues Salcedas made two statements to the police. In his first statement of the 6th May he says that around 10.20 to 10.30pm he noticed Diane Webster sitting at the table on her own. Gerry McCann was searching the bushes around the pool area. However, when interviewed by Leicestershire Police on the 23rd April 2008, he describes the same scenario but places the time at 21.30 to 22.00hrs. Why was this witness interviewed twice? Was it to check his timings, given the statements of other witnesses, or was it to confirm that Gerry McCann was searching the bushes around the pool area? Why would Gerry McCann be doing this? Even if Madeleine had woke and wandered, she could not have accessed the Ocean Complex without a swipe card to open the door between Reception and the pool area. No witness has come forward to say they opened the door for a small child dressed only in pyjamas and then allowed her to wander off around the swimming pools in the dark.
Finally, we have the evidence of the Smith family. Now, they were keeping an eye on the time that night because their son was returning to Ireland the next morning and had to be up early, so they did not want a late night. Martin Smith, who later identified Gerry McCann as the person he saw carrying a child in the direction of the beach, says the family left Kellys Bar at 9.55pm. Mrs Smith says it was 10pm.
